Fingerprints all over my heart.
Kind of have a head cold or allergies going on (the wind is blowing). Wow... what a day. Prenatal clinic day.... lots of mamas. Then a seriously depressing discovery that NARM has ALL NEW forms...and all this hard (paper) work I have put in over the last 15 days is worthless.... and it may even be so that some of my hard work I have put in over the last 2 years is lost. That part truly made me cry, which isn't helping my congestion at all! But those thoughts and feelings were put on the shelf when a precipitous labor and birth walked in the door pushing. Got my gloves on just in time to catch. Beautiful boy although there were a few sad moments for the mama who was so hoping for a girl (third son). Soon she was cuddling and nursing him so life is good.... And to top off the evening I must post the picture of what I am having for dinner. After such a long day I almost had a case of hysterical laughter but knew not to start that business or it would quickly turn to tears. Well here it is folks Filipino dining at it's best... tastes pretty too... I am ok as long as I don't look at it! Haha!

I
like to think of a woman's labor as a time of extreme personal power. I
love doing what I do.... imagine! I get to see women during some of the
most powerful moments of their entire lives! And yes, I believe love is
directly responsible for this phenomenon!!!
Here
where I live there is no hot water... most days I take a "Bucket Bath"
called "Tabo" in tagalog, which it basically the practice of heating up a
teapot full of water and combining with some cold in a bucket. Then
with a "dipper" You stand in your shower and have a sort of mini
shower... After a few cold showers I have learned to love my bucket
bath!! Here is a small literary contribution to life in the Philippines.....
ODE TO TABO.... DEAR BUCKET BATH...
Bucket bath, bucket bath
How I do love thee!
On nights when it's chilly
My skin is more willing!
No shout of shock
Doth issue forth,
When sheets of cold water
Hits me full force!
One bucket first,
Then nice soapy suds.
Won't I smell better,
When donning my duds?
Not sure 'bout that,
But at least I'll feel clean,
When slipping twixt the sheets,
All ready to dream.
Thank you dear bucket bath,
For the comfort you provide!
While pouring each bucket,
The fantasy doth arise,
Of me in my own wide tub,
And me just a-soakin...
In the warmth I do love!
As the last Tabo bucket,
Slips away down the drain,
I am happily humming,
Some distant sweet refrain.....
